Our government is of the people, by the people and for the people. But as long as our government operates in darkness, where does that leave the people?
In the dark.
For too long, public officials have operated behind closed doors and refused to turn over records that would inform the people what they are doing with taxpayers’ money.
The Mississippi Center for Investigative Reporting is shining light on decisions made in the darkness of secrecy, exposing fraud and corruption.
Holding public officials accountable is but one way MCIR is giving the voiceless a voice in Mississippi, seeking to bring justice to our state.
Please give today, joining us in the fight to shine light so that our democracy works as our forefathers intended, empowering Mississippians in their own communities.
At this time MCIR accepts donations from California, Mississippi, New York, Texas, and other states as registration requirements permit. Registration is pending in all other states.
Our application for 501(c) status is pending IRS approval.
The Mississippi Center for Investigative Reporting is committed to transparency. We think anyone interested in who we are and what we do deserves to know how we're funded and how we spend that money. This being MCIR’s first year of operations, we will post and disclose our financials, including 990 forms, audit, and annual report as soon as available after year-end.
